Dreaming Liberation: a mutual aid fundraiser hosted by Khalil’s Friends and Queens Families for Palestine
Sunday, July 19 | 6.30-9pm | $50
Dreaming Liberation is cozy, salon-style event where 100% of the ticket revenue goes directly to supporting families in Gaza, via Khalil's Friends and Queens Families for Palestine. Part tea ceremony, part dream interpretation discussion, and part freestyle movement session, Dream Salon is an opportunity to tap into your dreams, share them, and use them to inspire your dance.
We'll start with an informal tea ceremony with guayusa tea, which is used in the Amazon to bring clarity to dreams. (A caffeine-free option, Blue Lotus, will also be provided). This will lead into a chat about dream theory, followed by opening the space for folks to recall any recent dreams, or notable dreams from over the course of their lives. As we listen to each other's dreams, we'll create movement prompts, and participants will decide if they'd like to dance their own dream and be witnessed by the group, have someone else dance for them, or ask everyone to dance together for a song.
No dance experience required - just the willingness to share, to listen, and to witness and/or be witnessed.
About the facilitators:
Jesi V. "Rocki" Taylor (fae/they/she) is a poet, artist, archivist, torah scholar, doula, chaplain-in-training, and anti-colonial environmental scientist whose work and research centers colonized and criminalized communities. Their art is rooted in anti-ecocidal praxis and aims to inspire dialogue about dreaming, collective liberation, and being in anti-colonial relationships with our shared planetary homebody. Fae sometimes works as a waste consultant and educator on issues related to mass incarceration, waste colonialism, and critical religious studies. When she's not creating, she's laughing and dancing with her daughter.
Janis Luna (they/she) is a writer, therapist, tarot reader, and community organizer from Queens, NY. They are the co-editor of Working It: Sex Workers on the Work of Sex. Their writing is also featured in The People's Book of Human Sexuality, The Edge of Sex: Navigating a Sexually Confusing Culture from the Margins, and on Autostraddle. In her clinical and creative work, she focuses on sexual/gender-based trauma & healing, intergenerational trauma and ancestral veneration, and the importance of collective grief practices in sustaining movements for liberation. They run the social media for @khalilsfriends, a mutual aid collective of punks, queers, artists, and moms across the boroughs who support Khalil Zeyara and his family's survival fund as they resist the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Janis's work can be found at www.janistherapy.com.

F U C K: Guided Freestyle Experience with Madda
Sunday, July 26 | 5.30-7.30pm | $55
F U C K is a guided freestyle experience focused on building confidence in your movement, deepening your connection with your body, and helping you define what self-trust feels like through movement. We'll exercise both mind and body through prompts, imagination, texture play, and exploration of our surroundings. We'll travel through transitions from floor to chair to pole and everywhere in between, allowing us to tap into improvisation and discover new ways of moving.
We'll also experiment with responding to music without relying solely on choreography. Together we'll uncover what feels good, challenge habitual patterns, and create space for curiosity, expresson, play, and possibility.
This experience isn't about getting it right. It's about getting out of your head, trusting yourself, and asking: Why the FUCK not?
What to bring:
- (respectfully) that beautiful ass
- knee pads (provided at the studio, or bring your own)
- slides/flip-flops (for trips to the bathroom or water refills)
What to wear:
Define what "FUCK" feels like to you. Wear something that makes you feel completely yourself. Thigh highs, layers, and garments that can be easily shed are encouraged.
